Plan for Beautiful Skin
Need more information on this topic?
It’s the lead up to your big day and most of the major planning is complete. The wedding gown has been chosen, invitations addressed and bridesmaids’ dresses ordered. Everything on your list has got the big tick.
But don’t sigh with relief just yet, there’s one more item that needs to be added to the list – your face. Now is the time to start working towards healthy, glowing skin.
With a flashbulb in your face all day and guests getting up-close and personal with your skin as they hug and kiss you, even a fairly good complexion deserves attention.
Skin confidence is possible even in these extreme conditions! Just follow our simple six-month program and you’ll be putting your best face forward on your big day.
Remember, you don’t necessarily need to be a bride-to-be to follow this regime – anyone planning to look their best at any special event will benefit from some serious skincare.
Six months to go:
It’s never too early to start your skin program in the lead up to your big day and by beginning six-months out you will be able to budget for treatments and new products.
If you’re serious about getting your skin to look it’s very best, consult a professional beauty therapist or Appearance Enhancement Specialist and explain your skin goals and time frame.
Depending on your skin’s needs, here are some of the treatments an expert may recommend:
Uneven skin tone, dull complexion: A course of beauty therapy including advanced skin treatments such as of Microdermabrasion, Glycolic Peels or tailored facials.
Broken blood vessels, dark skin spots: A light treatment known as Photo Rejuvenation may be suitable. Several sessions spaced at least three weeks apart are required for optimal results - so start as soon as possible.
Caci's 48-week Reformaskin™ has also been specifically designed to treat these problems. Learn more about Reformaskin™ here
Fine lines and wrinkles: If you’re interested in treating lines and wrinkles with a non-surgical procedure such as Botox®, six-months prior to your wedding is ideal. As Botox® lasts between three – four months you can see whether you like the results before your big day.
Get these treatments at least three weeks before your wedding day in case you bruise or need a touch up.
Homecare
Invest in a quality homecare routine, and stick to it.
- Use an appropriate cleanser for your skin-type.
- Invest in a good treatment product or serum. These high-performance products will make the biggest difference to your skin, whatever your concern.
- Use moisturiser and sun block (preferably SPF30+) every day to hydrate and protect skin from environmental ageing and damage.
- Exfoliate a couple of times a week to avoid dead skin build-up and to allow your active products to properly penetrate.
If you are visiting a beauty therapist or Appearance Enhancement Specialist remember to make the most of their expert advice and ask for product recommendations specifically suited to your skin.
One week to go:
If you have been having facial treatments leading up to the wedding then one final treatment a week before your wedding should not be a problem as you will know exactly how your skin reacts.
Be wary of trying anything new this close to your big day. It only takes one new ingredient that your body doesn’t like to create a skin allergy or break out from an untested product - and that's a stress no bride needs!
The night before:
Remember, don’t try anything new, follow your normal skincare routine and your weekly care such as an exfoliant and mask (ensuring it is one that does not cause you to break out).
Get at least eight hours sleep if you can! A lavender-scented bath can help you relax and induce a restful slumber.
On the day:
On the big day carry out your regular skin care routine and enjoy the results of your previous months of dedicated skincare. Leave the rest up to the makeup artist and enjoy the day!
