Caci | Leading Skincare & Appearance Professionals - facial wrinklesDid you know there are five types of frown lines? Depressing news? It needn't be. That old saying, 'know thy enemy' applies to unwanted lines and wrinkles too.

By understanding which types of lines and wrinkles you have and how they form, you will better be able to understand your options for treating them.

How do wrinkles form?

As we age our skin loses collagen and elastin (which keep skin plump) and skin begins to sag and wrinkles develop.

The extent of wrinkles you have is effected by genetics, sun exposure and smoking.

There are two main types of wrinkles, dynamic - those that appear when we make an expression, and static - those that are visible all the time.

Should I use Botox® or fillers to treat my lines and wrinkles?

Botox® is most effective at treating dynamic lines as it restricts your facial movement so that these lines don't appear. For many people, an improvement in static lines is also visible.

Fillers are often a better choice for treating deeper lines and areas of the face where volume has been lost - such as sunken cheeks.

A combination of Botox® and fillers may be required to achieve the best results.

For fine lines around the eyes, a wrinkle-reducing eye cream may prove effective. Good quality skincare will also help improve skin's overall texture, tone and moisture levels. Quality products suited to your skin type should be used in conjunction with appearance medicine such as Botox®.
