#TeamCaci - Meet Gina, Registered Nurse
Meet Gina, Caci Tauranga West and Rotorua. We sat down with Gina to get to know her better discussing her transition from beauty to nursing and why she loves her role at Caci.
Where did your career start?
I started my role as an appearance medicine nurse with Caci Rotorua and now I work between two clinics, Rotorua and Tauranga West. I’ve gained so many new skills since starting with Caci and still find myself learning new things every day!
Before becoming a nurse I had gained an ITEC Diploma in fashion, theatre and media makeup artistry and special effects makeup. I worked in the beauty industry for quite some time and have found my pre-existing knowledge regarding facial contouring to be very relevant in my current role.
After graduating from university in 2015 with a Bachelor of Health Science (Nursing) degree I went on to work as an intensive care nurse. Since then I’ve decided to combine my nursing skill set with my passion for the beauty industry and am working for Caci as an appearance medicine nurse.
What do you love most about your role?
I really love the people I work with, both colleagues and clients. I also love the fact that I’m utilising my creative side every day. Every person I treat is different and therefore I enjoy tailoring treatments to meet the individual needs of my clients, all while maintaining a natural appearance. The best feeling is seeing people leave the clinic feeling more confident in themselves. I also really enjoy working for a company that values their clients and staff.
I’ve always loved being a preceptor to newly graduated nurses in the hospital so I would like to eventually be in a position where I am mentoring new appearance medicine nurses.
What does #skinconfidence mean to you?
It means feeling comfortable with no make up on and having nice healthy light reflect on my skin
