Profhilo® is an injectable gel made from hyaluronic acid – a naturally occurring substance in your skin that declines with age. At Caci, our qualified Registered Nurses carry out this treatment, which involves specific injections at precise points. The first time you have Profhilo® you will need to have two treatments 4 weeks apart, with results being visible after 4-12 weeks after the second treatment.

At Caci, we offer free consultations where you will have the opportunity to discuss the treatment in detail and go over your medical history. After your free consultation, you will be booked in for an appointment to be treated. One of our Caci Registered Nurses eases the Profhilo® into your skin using a fine needle. The injection process is quick and takes around 15 minutes.

The injection process is quick and generally well tolerated with customers only reporting a mild, but brief discomfort.

Results will vary, but typically they last 6-9 months (depending on your age, skin type and metabolism). We recommend that you have maintenance treatments at least once a year to maintain your desired results.

Profhilo® is suitable for most people to treat skin hydration. At Caci, your safety is our priority and we do not use cosmetic injectables while customers are planning to be, or are pregnant, breast feeding or while infection is present. Customers with neuro-muscular transmission disorders, glaucoma and other medical conditions, a history of anaphylaxis or are taking certain medications will also not be treated. We are also cautious around other treatments customers are having such as dental work or microblading, or if you will be travelling in the near future.

There are some common side effects such as bruising, redness, swelling, hypersensitivity, temporary lumps and bumps. Other rare but possible side effects include hardening at the point of injection site, infection, allergy and vascular compromise.

Time your appointment appropriately. If you have a big event coming up make sure you have a good window of time between your treatment and the event to allow for any bruising or swelling.

• Exercise before treatment. We recommend avoiding any strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours post treatment, so get that gym session/workout in beforehand! 
• Get plenty of rest. Particularly the night before the treatment and try to eliminate as much stress as possible before treatment to prevent you from feeling rushed and hurried, this is you time!
• Relax & enjoy. You may be a little nervous before your treatment. We can assure you that you are in the best and safest hands at Caci. You can ask any questions before/during treatment and the Caci team are there for you post treatment too. We got you!

After treatment your skin may be pink or red at the treatment site. You may also have small lumps at the injection sites. This is normal, and usually disappears within a few hours.

• Bruising is possible, you can apply Hirudoid cream (available at most chemists) which may help to shorten the duration of the bruise.
• Avoid consuming alcohol, strenuous exercise or rubbing/massaging the treated area for at least 24 hours.
• Avoid activity where your skin may come into contact with irritants, ie: pools, hot tubs., saunas. In addition to this avoid activity that may expose your skin to infectious material while your skin is healing, including pets.
• We recommend a mineral makeup only, from 4 hours post treatment. 

Please contact your clinic if you see signs of ‘duskiness’ or grey patches, pustules or unusual skin changes which may/may not be associated with pain.
