With nearly 2 decades in the beauty industry, Kelly Bruce has witnessed firsthand the profound impact that bowel and gut health can have on the body, particularly on our largest organ, the skin. As an ambassador for Bowel Cancer NZ, Kelly is committed to raising awareness and supporting those affected by this disease.
Bowel cancer is the second highest cause of cancer death in New Zealand. It kills as many New Zealanders as breast and prostate cancer combined, and it can affect anyone at any age. But it is treatable – and beatable – if it’s detected early enough.
Driven by her personal experiences, Kelly is running in the Auckland Half Marathon to contribute to the fight against bowel cancer, a cause close to her heart after witnessing its effects on loved ones.
Over the years of being a Skin Therapist at Caci, she has developed deep connections with customers, teams, and colleagues, many of whom have been touched by cancer. Her treatment room often served as a place of support and comfort, something Kelly is truly grateful for.
Now proudly working as a Skin Therapist Trainer for Caci, Kelly is dedicated to sharing her expertise and guiding the next generation of skin therapists in understanding how bowel health and other internal factors influence topical skin conditions. With a focus on our customers' well-being and a commitment to continuous improvement, Kelly's mission is to equip Caci Skin Therapists across New Zealand with the skills to provide comprehensive consultations and a deeper understanding of their clients' overall health.
The skin, as the body's largest organ, plays a key role in eliminating toxins. When the gut and bowel, our primary detoxifying systems, are not functioning properly, it often shows up on the skin. Symptoms such as constipation or irregular bowel movements can lead to skin irritation and inflammatory conditions like eczema, rosacea, and acne. Chronic inflammation in the body can also speed up the skin’s aging process.
A healthy bowel effectively removes toxins and waste. However, if bowel function is impaired, toxins can be reabsorbed into the bloodstream, affecting overall health and potentially causing skin issues like dullness or breakouts.
Supporting bowel health through a balanced diet, staying hydrated, managing stress, and seeking medical guidance for digestive concerns can improve both overall wellness and skin health.
Join Kelly in her mission to support those going through tough times and help make a difference in our communities. Together, we can raise awareness, provide comfort, and encourage positive changes both inside and out.
