Yes, Botox® relaxes the platysma muscle in the neck, softening visible bands (sometimes called 'turkey neck') and creating a smoother appearance. Results usually show within 1–2 weeks and last typically 3–6 months.
Our facial expressions – laughing, smiling, frowning - are produced by the movement of muscles underneath the skin. Over time, these muscle contractions lead to wrinkles and 'grooves' forming in the skin. As we age and our collagen and elastin production slows down, these lines become more pronounced. Anti-wrinkle injections made from a purified protein are applied under the skin, temporarily reducing the action of the targeted muscles and preventing them from moving. The effects generally lasts up to three or four months. It’s worth noting that as with any treatment, the longevity of the results can vary between customers.
This treatment is simple and has little to minor side effects. After the treatment, you may experience slight redness in the treated areas, this should go away within 15-20 minutes. Some people also experience a minor headache and bruising.

Botox® is a Prescription Medicine containing 50,100 or 200 units of clostridium botulinum Type A toxin complex for injection. It is used for the treatment of frown lines, crows feet and horizontal forehead lines. It should be administered only by trained medical professionals. Cautions: people with defective neuro-muscular transmission disorders, presence of infection at site of injection, glaucoma, pregnancy and lactation. Possible side effects include headaches, pain, burning or redness at injection site, local muscle weakness including drooping eye lids, lack of feeling & nausea. Talk to your specialist about the benefits/risks of this procedure or if you have concerns or side effects.
