How do chin and jaw fillers work?
Dermal Filler can be injected into a number of areas in the lower face which helps to soften lines, contour cheeks, add lip volume and can help give you a more sculpted jawline. Not only does dermal filler help to create a more full, youthful appearance but it also helps define and enhance your best features.
The most popular filler treatments include lips, cheeks, corner of the mouth, marionette lines (facial folds between the corners of your mouth and chin), Nasolabial fold (lines between the bottom of your nose and corners of your mouth), chin and jawline. At Caci, we use a Dermal Filler called Juvederm – an injectable dermal filler with an active ingredient of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the human body which stimulates the production of the connective tissue that plumps the skin, and as we age this natural production slows down and decreases which is when the appearance of fine lines and loosening of the facial skin occurs. To combat this, dermal filler, a soft injectable gel, is injected into the area and works to boost the skin’s supply of hyaluronic acid.
Benefits of Dermal Filler include:
- Revitalising the skin
- Adding volume
- Instantly diminishing the appearance of lines and wrinkles
- Providing a softer more youthful look
Why get chin and jawline filler?
Aside from the benefits outlined above, there are many reasons why people look to get chin or jawline filler.
Change the look of the jawline
The most obvious is changing the appearance of the jawline creating a more defined look by strategically injecting along the lower jaw. This separates the jawline and the neck which gives that more definite appearance - think Bella Hadid or Angelina Jolie, both of who have sculpted jawlines.
Reduce jowls
Jawline filler also reduces the look of jowls (the loosening of skin below your chin or jawline, which can happen as we age due to the skin becoming thinner and losing its elasticity),
Soften sharp jawlines
Strategically placed filler can also help to reduce and soften a sharp or overly angular jawline.
Change facial proportions
Chin filler can help add proportion or fullness to the chin if it is on the smaller side, and can help balance out or elongate an asymmetric jawline.
Ultimately getting filler is about helping you feel confident in your skin and your appearance, and our expert team of Registered Nurses at Caci are specially trained to ensure you will be happy with your aesthetical enhancements and can walk away more confident than when you walked in.
So, can chin filler give you a more sculpted jawline?
Short answer, yes! When the dermal filler is strategically injected along the lower jaw and chin, jaw fillers can create a more defined look, separating the jawline and the neck.
Will dermal filler get rid of my double chin?
A lot of people ask if dermal filler will get rid of double chins, and while it can change the appearance filler doesn’t completely rid a double chin. This is because filler is more useful in adding volume and fullness, not reducing it. However, if you are wanting to rid suborn fat below your chin other cosmetic treatments can help with this such as fat-dissolving cosmetic injections. If dermal fillers were still of interest you could follow this treatment with fillers to add the definition and more sculpted look to your jawline.
Who can get jawline and chin fillers?
Fillers are available for anyone who wants a more sculpted or angular profile. It is important to note, however, that the results you can achieve will depend largely on your face and bone structure. Both men and women can get filler treatments to enhance their face and jaw.
Often filler placements are not in areas you would expect but can give you the result you are after. For example, filler injected into your chin can also change the appearance of your jawline and profile. As every face is unique it is recommended to discuss your concerns and goals during a consultation with an experienced and qualified practitioner.
At Caci, we offer free consultations where you can discuss your goals and get a price estimate so you can chat through a plan that’s tailored to you. We’re big believers that appearance medicine doesn’t have to break the bank! Our payment plans allow you to pay upfront, monthly, fortnightly or weekly.
What does the treatment involve?
Filler treatments are very quick! Before your treatment one of the Caci nurses will talk you through the steps of the treatment, and what sensations to expect from the injections. Once you’re comfortable, you will be reclined in a chair and your filler will be strategically injected to create your desired result. A numbing agent is mixed into the filler itself to reduce discomfort. The dermal filler is injected into the area being treated whereby a small pocket of fluid (Juvederm) is added under the dermal layer of your skin. You might feel a sensation of fullness or tightening as the filler is injected, but the injection itself is pretty pain-free.
Once the filler is in place it is gently massaged in place to ensure it takes form correctly. Treatment time for Dermal Filler usually takes 20 to 60 minutes, you’ll be able to see results immediately, and the full effects will be seen a day or two after the treatment as the filler settles into its position on your face. With any invasive procedure, you may experience be some minor side effects, which can include bruising, swelling, redness or tenderness around the injection site – all of which should resolve within a couple of days.
How long do chin and jaw fillers last?
Every face is different and some people metabolise filler faster than others, so how long the filler lasts will depend on this, as well as the product used and the area treated. Fillers aren’t permanent and will break down naturally in the skin over time, but you can typically expect dermal filler to last between 8-24 months. It’s recommended that treatments are carried out once or twice per year to achieve and maintain your desired results.
